G SongLab (www.gsonglab.fi) is a community of young people interested in making their own music, which organizes songwriting workshops, online meetings, listening sessions for young people's own music and much more. The activity is free of charge and open to everyone, regardless of previous background in music.
Key partners are Genelec Oy and the University of Arts, and the non-profit Tiedonjulkistamisen Kulttuuritehdas ry produces the operation. At the Kuopio Tanssii ja Soi festival, dancers will also participate in GSongLab to create choreography with songwriters on June 18-20, 2023.
The theme of the workshop is Power and Powerlessness. We invite you to make art through multiple lenses: how can power be seen or heard? How can power be used through art? How does it work between people? How does it show up in the world? How does it feel in the body? What about powerlessness? We challenge you to participate in a workshop together with other young people to imagine power and powerlessness through music and dance, mentored by professionals.
The workshop is mentored by dance artist Samuli Emery, dance artist Sanni Kriikku, singer /songwriter Anna Kuoppamäkiand songwriter / producer Petter Korkman.
