Cristiana Morganti, a former dancer of Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal, charmed us in 2021 with Jessica and Me, a solo based on her life. Now Morganti returns to Kuopio with her new work Behind the Light – an ironic and light catharsis of a choreographer and dancer overcoming an existential and artistic crisis during and after the pandemic. Halfway between irony and despair, this is a tragicomic tale, an autobiographical poem that takes the mundane to elevate it and propel it towards a new life. Morganti has rediscovered herself, and is still as funny as ever, never short of witty insights.
