Carnival Parade

Kuopio Dance Festival’s Carnival Parade will charm the festival crowd again this summer!

The idea of the Carnival Parade is to bring colour, southern European carnival spirit and the thrill of dance to the city’s streetscape. The parade is a playful competition, with prizes awarded to the best teams. The parade will proceed from Snellmaninpuisto to Kuopio Square Market, where the groups will have one minute to perform and a chance to impress the judges.

The competition is open to teams of any size, from 4 to 20 people, representing any organisation. Several different teams from the same company, association, etc. may enter.

The team may choose to perform dance and choreography, which is also one of the areas to be judged. However, the competition is a playful one and there does not have to be any dance choreography!

The prize for the winning team is €1000 and the prize for the runner-up is €500. The winning team will also receive a trophy, which will be returned to the following year’s event to be presented to the new winner. The event is sponsored by PeeÄssä.

In summer 2023, 10 teams took part in the Carnival Parade, all of whom put on a great show!
The winner was Los Locos de la Calle from Kuopio SalsaStudio, with the second place going to the Puumiehet Show.

Registration closes on May 26th at 4 pm.
The 2024 teams will be announced in May. Carnival Parade is held Saturday 15th of June. Check the rules and register your team!
