Kuopio Dance Festival and Finnish Dance Schools Association STOPP ry invite dance schools to apply to perform at the 54th Kuopio Dance Festival.
Kuopio Dance Festival is the largest and most versatile annual contemporary dance event in Nordic countries. It is located in Kuopio city in the middle of the Finland. Next Kuopio Dance Festival dates are 14.-20.6.2023.
Dance Schools on Stage has been part of Kuopio Dance Festival since 2011. This is a great chance for dance students to be part of international dance festival program and for audience to to see versatility of dance education and enjoy wonderful performances of course.
Purpose of this event is to present dance education, so this is not a competition. We wish participants of different ages and different dance styles around Finland and Europe. This is good opportunity for students and teachers to network internationally.
You can apply under the following conditions:
Group
Performers should be aged 7 years and up
No professional dancers
Group size min. 2 dancers
Performance
Free choice dance style
Duration max. 10 minutes
Flexible technical solutions (2–3 basic light situations)

Finnish dance schools 15.12.2022 - 31.1.2023
Selection:
International dance schools by 15.12.2022
Finnish dance schools by 15.2.2023

Performing groups will be selected by festival artistic director Riku Lehtopolku and representative of Finnish Dance Schools Association STOPP ry
In the selections, attention is paid to e.g. to the following matters
the technical skills of the performers
expression
the skill of dancing in a group
musicality
courage
suitability of the presentation's difficulty level for the group
Selected groups
Kuopio Dance Festival will pay a travel grant for each performing group. Amount will be announced later.
Kuopio Dance festival will take care of marketing, media and general arrangements
Other expenses and arrangements will be covered by the schools / performing groups.

Feedback
Every performing group will receive feedback right after performance from festival artistic director Riku Lehtopolku and representative of Finnish Dance Schools Association STOPP ry
