The restaurants’ KuopioMenus comprise three to six dishes. The main emphasis lies on fresh Finnish ingredients primarily produced or processed in the surrounding province. Each menu is different as each chef will compose one that matches the particular style of their own restaurant. “The idea of a special KuopioMenu arose when the restaurants’ representatives were discussing their desire to exhibit the character of the city itself and present the local expertise and cuisine of the Kuopio region, too. This will also enhance networking and cooperation between our top-quality restaurants, ingredients suppliers and tourism industry”, explains Mika Moisander, chairman of the KuopioMenu working group. KuopioMenu – a part of the Taste of Finland conceptThe KuopioMenu is part of the national Taste of Finland concept whose premise is to introduce Finnish high quality seasonal products with a special emphasis on local foods. Taste of Finland also aims to enhance national and local food traditions and spread the word about Finnish gastronomy. KuopioMenu restaurants are easily recognised by the Fork of Plenty symbol in the shape of a fork and plate. The prongs of the fork illustrate the versatility of the menu and refer to the thousands of Finnish lakes and the country’s maritime heritage. The symbol shows a hook, fish spear or arrow, a knife and a corkscrew. The Fork of Plenty is an excellent tool to help anyone catch a delicious Finnish meal!
