YAMA chor. Noa Wertheim

Vertigo Dance Company from Israel paints a fragile picture on the scene in Yama.

Choreographer Noa Wertheim got her inspiration for Yama (‘pond’) from the movement of water, a wave. It’s about limitations of one’s personal ideas and our relationships with other people. If we disagree with each other, how can we get over it and agree? How to take ourselves into a higher level of humanity? How to handle a dialogue between a duet, how to be like a wave?

"These fine dancers fascinatingly chisel their way through the motion emphasizing the most subtle nuances… the aesthetics of this piece invoke utmost appreciation to Wertheim's professional skills"
Ruth Esthel, HaAretz, Feb. 5, 2016

Vertigo Dance Company, founded by Adi Sha’al and Noa Wertheim in 1992, has established a unique presence in the contemporary dance scene worldwide, developing a distinct artistic language challenging the limits of the human body and awareness while emphasizing the link between Art and Earth.

This is the company’s first visit to Finland.
