The Shanghai Ballet was formally renamed in 1979 at the base of The White haired Girl -performing team. The White haired Girl won the Gold Medal of the Best Classical works of the 20th Century in China, which helped establish the Shanghai Ballet´s predominant position in ballet circle in China. Since its founding, many young dancers of the company have won total of about 30 medals in various international dance competition. The ballet is active in cooperation and cultural exchange with the artists and companies both abroad and at home. The company not only tours nationwide but also visits numerous countries all over the world.

Cullberg Ballet is in its fifth decade one of the leading companies on the front line of modern dance. The ensemble has performed in more than forty countries giving foreign audiences a taste of Swedish culture. The composition of the company´s dancers has always been international and the dancers technical proficiency and strong stage personalities are some of Cullberg Ballet`s main characteristics. The company brings you selected pieces from the Ballet´s history to the present. Mats Ek, the leading Swedish choreographer, was the Manager of Cullberg Ballet from 1985 to 1993. Johan Inger, Artistic Director of Cullberg Ballet in 2003-2008. Alexander Ekman, the former dancer in Royal Swedish Ballet and NDT, is known for his clever ideas, fast-packed choreography and abundance of humour in his pieces.
